A beautiful video was made for me and I wanted to share it with you all.
2010 QUICKDRAW!!!! September 18th! Jackson Hole, WY
Once again it is a BEAUTIFUL DAY in the fall in Jackson, and the girls and I are out trying to
beat the clock and create an amazing piece in one hour. I show my entire process. The bear
and fish piece "Bears Like Sushi Too" shows my oil painting/pastel work, and the wolf piece
laying flat on the table shows my charcoal/ink drawing process. Wonderful crowd, wonderful
support, the painting went for a wonderful price. I am thrilled! See you next year!
I think that the hardest part about making art is getting out your supplies, or making up the palette, or getting in the truck at 1:19am and driving to the studio. Once you are there... YOU ARE THERE! So get there! Make art! In college we called it "Manic Oceanic." The place where you are truly into your work, everything is flowing, and each time you remember there is a clock in the room it is two hours later already.....its about about the making, the creating, being artisty, problem solving, and the challenge, and once in a while... the BREAKTHROUGH!
This is a 28 minute session of sketching out a 6x4 ft painting that I have time-lapsed down to under 4 minutes. It is important to work quickly when laying out a piece to get flow and motion into the composition and keep the painting loose and alive. I was a little extra blessed during this drawing that it really came out how I wanted it on the first try. Thanks to my brother and his band YELLOW LIGHT MAYBE, they agreed to loan me one of their songs;"More Of The World" to enhance this video. Listen to more of their music at www.yellowlightmaybe.com. Enjoy!
Pullin' Prints:
I think my second love after oil paint is printmaking. These monotypes are so much fun to make because they are unexpected and you can only make one of them. I love the process, the mark making, and the final line drawings. Whenever I have extra time (funny) you can find me at the Teton Art Lab pulling prints!
